A minor was taken to the hospital after suffering an upper limb injury
The Spanish Maritime Rescue Service rescued seven migrants traveling in a small boat located eleven miles southeast of Maspalomas , on the island of Gran Canaria. The operation was launched after a distress call was received from the vessel, which was subsequently located by the Integrated System for External Surveillance (SIVE) . The Las Palmas Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (CCS) deployed the Salvamar Macondo vessel to carry out the rescue and tow the migrants to a safe port. Among those rescued were two minors and two women, all of North African origin, who were taken in good health to the Arguineguín dock.
Medical attention following the rescue at the Arguineguín dock
The 112 Canarias emergency medical team assessed the seven occupants as soon as they arrived at the dock. One of the minors was taken to the hospital due to an upper limb injury, while the others did not require hospital treatment after being evaluated by on-site medical personnel. This type of intervention reinforces the importance of coordinated work between Maritime Rescue and medical services on the Canary Islands coast, given the constant arrival of boats carrying migrants to Gran Canaria and other islands in the archipelago.
