The campaign, which will run from October 1 to 5, will collect basic food items from 191 stores and aims to surpass the more than 5.000 kilos collected in the last edition.

Next Wednesday, October 1st, the SPAR Gran Canaria group will launch the fifth edition of its solidarity food collection campaign, "Los Desayunos Solidarios," an initiative organized in collaboration with the Rotary Club Las Palmas. The collected food will be used to meet the needs of the four Cáritas Diocesana soup kitchens in Gran Canaria.

The campaign will run until Sunday, October 5, in the chain's 191 stores on the island, which will become collection points for customers to donate basic food items to families in vulnerable situations.

The food needs include whole or semi-skimmed milk, mini-brick juices, cereals, cookies, cocoa powder, gofio, and jams, which will be donated to the soup kitchens run by Diocesan Caritas on the island.

Aware of the hardships faced by many families in Gran Canaria, the supermarket chain has decided to promote this charity once again this year with the goal of surpassing the more than 5.000 kilos of products collected in the previous edition, as well as expanding the reach of this aid to a larger number of people. Last year, the Diocesan Caritas of the Canary Islands served 7.478 households, reaching 22.800 people in the province of Las Palmas.

The campaign launch, held at the Tomás Morales SPAR store, was attended by Dunia Pérez, general manager of SPAR Gran Canaria; Clara Medina, representing the chain's owners; Yubi Cisneros, director of Corporate Social Responsibility; and the presidents of the Rotary Club of Las Palmas, Eloísa Moreno, and Gonzalo Marrero, presidents of the Diocesan Caritas of the Canary Islands.

The food delivery is scheduled for October 16th, coinciding with World Food Day, and will strengthen coverage of the most important meal of the day in many homes on the island. In addition, the group will publicize the products it seeks to collect on its own communication channels to inform its customers.
