Blanca Paloma, native of Elche, and her EAEA will take the stage in position number 8
The Liverpool Echo Arena is preparing to experience Eurovision, with all participating countries confirmed for Saturday's grand final, the event that millions of fans throughout Europe and even in other parts of the world are already waiting for, where the festival is followed with great excitement despite of not having representatives.
The big countries in the competition (known as the Big Five) and the previous winner (Ukraine) do not participate in the semi-finals. This edition of the contest is awaited with great expectation, especially after last year's controversy, where Ukraine's victory was criticized, alleging political reasons due to the war conflict in which the country is immersed.
This particularly outraged Spanish fans, who for the first time in many years saw a Chanel song, with its SloMo campaign , manage to lead Spain to a fight for victory, but ultimately, between the popular vote's shift towards Ukraine and a close battle with the UK candidate, Sam Ryder, it had to settle for third place. The election was not without controversy, as the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) was forced to investigate irregularities detected in the voting processes of six countries.
This year, the Spanish representation is in charge of Blanca Paloma, a native of Elche, and her EAEA ; with which she intends, at the very least, to equal the results obtained by Chanel in the last edition, she will perform in position number 8, at about 21:45 p.m.
The history of Spanish representatives at Eurovision includes the Canary Islands, the archipelago being one of the Spanish regions with the strongest presence in the international contest. Braulio was the first Canarian to represent Spain at the festival with his song "Sobran las Palabras" (Words Are Unnecessary), achieving sixteenth place. Two years later, José Vélez followed, finishing ninth with "Bailemos un Vals" (Let's Dance a Waltz). Other participants included Patricia Kraus, Ramón del Castillo, Mikel Hennet with the group D'Nash, and Raquel del Rosario with El Sueño de Morfeo in 2013. Geno Machado, from Gran Canaria, also participated in 2002 as a backing vocalist for Rosa López, that year's representative.
The Canary Islands, Europe and the world are already prepared to experience one of the most anticipated events of the year this Saturday.
