The cuts and restrictions will occur between 06:00 and 14:00 on Saturday, April 22, on the occasion of the Anfi Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria triathlon event. The GC-500 highway will be closed to vehicle traffic between the small square of the La Verga ravine – Anfi del Mar area, kilometer point 30+700 – and the Taurito ravine, kilometer point 42+800.
The Mogán City Council provides maps indicating access to the affected locations along with traffic restrictions for Saturday, April 22. The access and traffic restrictions that will affect part of the coastal area of the municipality are detailed below.
Vehicle access to Anfi del Mar and Los Caideros will be closed as this is the transition area for the race, with cyclists participating. Only restricted access, controlled by traffic officers, will be permitted. For safety reasons, pedestrians must use the designated area, and a temporary public transport stop will be set up.
In Balito, access to the Marina Elite Resort complex will be closed from 06:00 AM to 14:00 PM, except in cases of emergency or absolute necessity. Access and exit for workers and airport transfers until 7:30 AM will be supervised by the Local Police.
Access to the Agua La Perra area in Puerto Rico will be restricted. Vehicles may only be used for justified reasons, such as passenger pick-up and drop-off by public transport services. Drivers should be aware that access to this area is via the roundabout at the intersection of the GC-500 and Juan Díaz Rodríguez Street. Crossing this road will only be permitted with the authorization of the local police officers directing traffic at this point.
In the lower part of Puerto Rico , which requires crossing the GC-500, access will be restricted. Vehicles will only be permitted in strictly necessary and essential cases, following the instructions of the officers directing traffic. Access and exit for workers and airport transfers until 8:00 a.m. will be supervised by the Local Police.
It is recommended, as far as possible, to park in the upper part of Puerto Rico (Tomás Roca Bosch Street and surrounding areas). To cross to the lower part, you must use the pedestrian underpass that is in the area, so that you can avoid traveling at the same level as the place where the sports event takes place.
Access to the Amadores area will be via the interior of Puerto Rico from the GC-1, using Avenida de la Cornisa to Calle Timanfaya, Calle Tenerife, and Calle San Borondón, then down Calle Ministra Anna Lindh to the existing parking area. To exit, one must travel along Calle Montaña Clara to Avenida de la Cornisa and then rejoin the GC-1 in Puerto Rico.
Access to Tauro, El Platero, and Playa del Cura will only be permitted in case of emergency or unforeseen need, so residents of the area should plan ahead according to the road closure. Access and exit for workers and airport transfers until 7:30 a.m. will be supervised by the Local Police. Temporary public transport stops (taxis and buses) will be located in the Tauro square.
Access to and from Taurito via the GC-500 road will be closed, and the GC-1 should be used as an alternative route. Therefore, to reach the Mogán area, you will need to take exit 62 towards Las Palmas and make a U-turn to reach Mogán. Access to the lower part of Taurito will be possible as usual.
Vehicle access to the beaches of Los Frailes, Medio Almud and Tiritaña will be closed between 06:00 and 14:00.
The Mogán City Council asks citizens to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The measures adopted are those necessary for the Anfi Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria to be held within the security parameters that an event of these characteristics requires for its correct development in the municipality.
