FATAGA - SAN GARTOLOMÉ CLIMB 2026

The Maspalomas Racing Team is organizing the Fataga-San Bartolomé Hill Climb this Saturday, bringing the Las Palmas Hill Climb Championship to Tirajana, for both speed and regularity sport categories. The hill climb features two different courses: the classic and winding Fataga course in the morning, and the wider and faster San Bartolomé course in the afternoon, although both courses cover similar distances of around 4,5 km.

A total of 66 vehicles have registered for this double event, of which 30 drivers compete in speed, 22 teams in regularity and 14 in formula-rally.

The program starts with Fataga at 9 a.m. and continues with San Bartolomé from 14:30 p.m. onwards, with the final trophy presentation in the Plaza de Tunte around 17 p.m.

Among the favorites are the two drivers who have been enlivening this hill climb competition in Gran Canaria: Iván Armas with his Porsche 911 and Miguel Cabral with his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X. Also among the contenders are Ayoze Benítez with his new Skoda Fabia R5, Anyelo Padrón with his BMW M3, and hill climb specialist José Calderín with his Renault Clio.

Last year, Miguel Cabral achieved a double victory with the Evo V, as did Javier Rodríguez in the CM class. The Tenerife driver had a fantastic race and set a new Fataga record of 2:25.525 (Speed Car GTR). He is not on this year's list, which is comprised exclusively of David Bethencourt and his Speed Car GT1000.

Highlighting the debut of two Lancia Ypsilon HF Rally4s driven by Antonio Afonso Hernández and Antonio Afonso Martel (father and son).

Ten teams have registered in the RS category, and José Manuel Martín and Sonia Alonso, driving a BMW 635, and Javier Marrero and Isabel García, driving a VW Golf GTI, stand out in their battles for the provincial championship. The field is rounded out by six teams in the intermediate regularity category and another six in the regularity category.

The climbs also count towards the FALP Promotion Trophy and other promotional cups.

The event begins this Friday afternoon with the technical checks of the cars in the town of Fataga, starting at 17 p.m.
