The San Fernando de Maspalomas Municipal Market is facing its definitive reopening after the completion of the rehabilitation and expansion works awarded to the Temporary Business Association (UTE) formed by TMR and TROP.

The intervention, promoted by the Maspalomas Consortium under the supervision of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council and the Gran Canaria Island Council, transforms a venue with more than forty years of history since its original opening in the eighties.

At the rear of the complex, a multipurpose hall has been created with the capacity to host diverse events for more than 400 people, prioritizing natural light in all rooms. Around the perimeter, the project has incorporated more than 100 parking spaces equipped with dedicated electric vehicle charging points, addressing the long-standing parking shortage in the commercial center of San Fernando.

The project merges two technical realities into a single architectural whole. The work combined the partial rehabilitation of the old market's existing structure with the construction of a new building, complete with foundations, sanitation systems, and other specialized installations. The project required the simultaneous coordination of multiple trades to adapt a building over four decades old to current building codes.

The new indoor retail space is divided into twenty-one specialized stalls and a specific area dedicated to the marketing of local products.

The infrastructure aims to regain its specific weight in the economy of the southern region of Gran Canaria, combining the tradition of four decades of commercial activity with new uses aimed at both the resident population and visitors to the south of the island.
