It has been in the hands of the Government of the Canary Islands since this September and It was published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands last FridayThe Urban Planning Department of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council is moving forward with updating its municipal planning through the initial approval of the Minor Modification to the General Urban Development Plan (PGOU) for the rural settlement of Salobre Bajo. The initiative, promoted by the Association of Affected Residents of El Salobre, Lomo los Azules and Surrounding Areas and processed under file number 2765/2024, was submitted to the full council for initial approval after being spearheaded by the First Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Urban Planning, Alejandro Marichal, and the Councilor for the area, Davinia Ramírez.
As Davinia Ramírez explains, the urban development plan defines a territorial area of 103.941,88 square meters in southern Gran Canaria. The document redefines the zoning of the area under the legal category of Rural Settlement Land, officially recognizing a total of 78 existing homes and establishing the possibility of controlled growth with a maximum of 20 new buildings.
The project also includes actions to improve the road network, reserve land for future public facilities—including a possible recycling center—and incorporate measures aimed at promoting landscape integration, preventing building sprawl, and recovering degraded areas in the surrounding environment.
The First Deputy Mayor, Alejandro Marichal, emphasizes that this project is part of a comprehensive strategy to resolve long-standing issues that have been stalled for decades in the municipality. Marichal notes that this roadmap has already allowed for the completion of other significant projects during the current term, such as the modification of the T-4 zoning plan for El Tablero, the Partial Plan for Sector 13 of El Tablero, the Partial Plan for Montaña La Data, and the development plan for Lomo los Azules.
In parallel, the Department of Urban Planning is maintaining open the technical processing of numerous strategic areas throughout the municipality, including Salinas del Matorral, Lomo Cuatro Matas, Lomo los Pajaritos-Barranco del Negro, Isla de Jamaica, Media Fanega, Media Fanega Alta, Lomo los Palmitos, the expansion of Bellavista, Salobre Golf, Islas Canarias, Archipiélago Canario, as well as the Action Programs on the Urban Environment (PAMU) corresponding to El Tablero T-1, Aldea Blanca and the Golf Course.
