The first edition of the Gran Canaria Senior Citizens' Fair exceeds all expectations two weeks before its celebration

Maspalomas24h Sunday, September 13, 2026

More than forty organizations have already confirmed their participation, and around 10.000 people are expected to attend during the three days of celebration in Gáldar.

The Gran Canaria Senior Citizens' Fair is entering the final stages of its organization with figures exceeding initial expectations. Two weeks before the event, more than forty public and private entities, professional associations, and foundations have already confirmed their participation in this first edition, which will take place on October 1, 2, and 3, 2026, in the Plaza de Santiago in Gáldar , and is expected to draw around 10.000 people.

Organized by the Institute of Socio-Health Care of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, ExpoDeca - Vice-Ministry of Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, the City Council of Gáldar and the companies Lidia Cáceres - Institutional Events and Promedia Events , the fair is born with the objective of becoming a great meeting point around active, healthy and participatory aging.

Under the slogan “Active Aging” and with free admission , the Gran Canaria Senior Fair will bring together in one space proposals related to health, well-being, leisure, sports, travel, culture and gastronomy , among other areas of interest for older people and their families.

One of the main attractions of this first edition will be its participatory and interactive nature . The program will not be limited to the exhibition of products and services, but will offer the public the opportunity to experience, learn, and participate directly in numerous activities and workshops.

The fair is presented as a great showcase for all those who want to learn, discover new alternatives, and take steps toward healthier and more active aging . At the same time, it aims to highlight the value of older adults as key players in our society and as a true treasure trove of experience, knowledge, and skills , while also fostering intergenerational connections.

The program will include proposals for different profiles and ages, with content aimed not only at older people, but also at family members, caregivers and professionals linked to the socio-health field and care for the elderly.

The planned activities include theatrical performances, sports exhibitions, group activities, musical performances, functionality tests, showcooking and tastings of Canarian products , as well as workshops and actions focused on injury prevention, safety, the use of new technologies, the handling of applications and electronic procedures , as well as games and other proposals of a recreational and educational nature.

All of this will form, over three days, a space for meeting, participation and celebration around a stage of life that offers multiple opportunities to continue learning, enjoying and sharing.

The first Senior Citizens' Fair in Gran Canaria can be visited free of charge in the Plaza de Santiago in Gáldar during the following hours:

Thursday, October 1st: from 16:30 pm to 20:00 pm.

Friday, October 2nd: from 10:00 to 20:00 hours.

Saturday, October 3rd: from 10:00 to 18:00 hours.

With this first edition, the Gran Canaria Senior Fair aims to establish itself as a key event on the island to promote a vision of aging based on activity, autonomy, well-being, social participation and quality of life.
