The Canary Islands Government's Department of Tourism and Employment organized the second edition of the Safe Tourism Conference, in collaboration with the National Police, the Civil Guard, the Canary Islands General Police Corps, the Local Police, and representatives of the tourism sector.

The sessions were held at the Elder Museum and addressed the main challenges and operational plans for tourist security, with special attention to cybercrime.

The meeting aims to promote the exchange of experiences and strategies to improve prevention and response to threats affecting the sector

The National Police participated in the II Safe Tourism Conference held this Thursday, September 10th, at the Elder Museum of Science and Technology in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria , a meeting place and forum for collaboration between the tourism sector and the Security Forces.

The Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Tourism and Employment organized the event in collaboration with the National Police , the Civil Guard , the Canary Islands Police Force , the Local Police , and representatives from the tourism sector. This initiative aims to share knowledge, experiences, and prevention strategies, as well as strengthen collaborative mechanisms designed to guarantee the safety of residents and visitors and consolidate the Canary Islands as a safe tourist destination.

During the sessions, different issues related to security in the tourism sector were analyzed, paying special attention to the new challenges arising from digital transformation.

Among the issues to be addressed is cybercrime in the tourism industry , a threat that increasingly affects a greater number of companies and users and requires adequate coordination between the private sector and the institutions responsible for security.

Also discussed were the operational plans for tourist security, aimed at establishing prevention and action strategies for the various situations that may affect security during tourist activity.

The conference thus provides a meeting point to strengthen communication and cooperation channels between tourism professionals and police forces, promoting a joint and coordinated response to risks and threats that may arise.

This event highlights the importance of public-private collaboration in security matters, especially in a territory like the Canary Islands, where tourism is one of the main economic and social drivers.

Prevention, information sharing, and collaboration among all stakeholders are essential to anticipating threats and providing both residents and tourists with an increasingly safe environment.
