The tourism sector in southern Gran Canaria offers excellent job opportunities for qualified professionals in customer service, representation, and destination management. Two of the European giants in the sector, TUI and Jet2, are actively recruiting in key locations such as Maspalomas and the island's airports, including Gran Canaria Airport, offering competitive conditions and career development opportunities both locally and internationally. If you're in the south of the island, it's a real bargain. For example, there are job openings ranging from airport staff to football or swimming coaches. If you're looking for a change of scenery and want to leave the islands, it's a great option because it's always in tourist destinations; in other words, traveling abroad doesn't always have to mean bad weather.

Working as a hotel representative or in tourism services for TUI, based in southern Gran Canaria, requires meeting specific requirements such as a driver's license, owning a vehicle, and fluency in English along with a second European language, usually Danish or Norwegian. TUI offers a gross monthly base salary of €1.837, plus commissions on sales of experiences and excursions that typically range from €200 to €600 per month, with no maximum limit.

The standard contract includes a 39-hour work week spread over 5 days with 2 days off, 22 days of annual leave plus two extra complimentary days for birthdays and special holidays, as well as work tools such as a company iPad, uniform, access to the TUI Learning Hub and discounted private health insurance options.

Jet2holidays, for its part, operates airport assistance and passenger service positions under local contracts. The part-time Airport Representative position (20 hours per week) has an advertised annual salary of €25.944,04, proportional to its bonus structure and destination conditions.

Key benefits include paid training with company-provided computer equipment, advance sharing of shift schedules, 23 days of annual leave, and exclusive flight discounts. Jet2.com and group hotels, as well as incentive programs for referrals from friends.

If you prefer to explore opportunities outside the archipelago or move to other European destinations and global tour operators, the options within these companies' ecosystem are extensive, ranging from corporate positions to seasonal jobs at international resorts. Among the corporate, remote, or hybrid roles, notable examples include TUI Sales and Customer Service Advisor based in Palma or working remotely, Accommodation Revenue Coordinator with a hybrid base in Torremolinos, and Senior Hotel Partner Manager with executive positions based in Hanover, Luton, Amsterdam, or Madrid.

Seasonal jobs at international destinations such as TUI Magic Life and summer resorts also include sports coaches and instructors such as tennis instructors, children's swimming instructors, cycling guides and water sports specialists, as well as entertainment and show teams made up of dance artists, special show singers, sound and lighting technicians, DJs, and childcare and entertainment staff such as nursery hosts, babysitters and children's or teen entertainers.
