A minor, approximately 14 years old, died on Tuesday after being found underwater in a cove located between Amadores and Puerto Rico beaches, in the municipality of Mogán. The Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) helicopter recovered the boy and transported him to the Amadores helipad, where medical personnel confirmed his death.
A large emergency response was mobilized on Tuesday, August 18 , on the coast of Mogán after several people reported that someone was in distress in the water. The Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 received the calls at 14:35 p.m. and activated rescue , medical, and security resources.
Emergency teams located the child underwater . The crew of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) helicopter recovered him and transported him to the Amadores helipad . Maritime Rescue , the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium , and Civil Protection personnel also participated in the sea and land operation.
The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) dispatched a fully equipped ambulance to the area. After the helicopter landed, medical personnel confirmed the death of the minor , approximately 14 years old, and that nothing could be done to save his life.
The Civil Guard also went to the scene to assist the emergency services and take charge of the corresponding procedures. Local police officers also participated in the operation deployed on the Mogán coast.
