The renewal of the Mogán marina concession includes an ambitious economic plan totaling €8.608.001,38 for new projects, divided between the commercial and fishing areas. On the one hand, Puerto de Mogán, SA has committed to carrying out significant investment projects in the marina with a budget of €7.208.310. On the other hand, responding directly to the demands of the local Fishermen's Association, an additional €1,3 million will be allocated to improvement projects in the fishing area, located outside the concession area, to support the primary sector in southern Gran Canaria.
To justify the extension and set the corresponding fee, the company submitted a detailed valuation report to Puertos Canarios, prepared by the appraisal firm Gloval. This report estimated the updated value of the accumulated investment in the marina, once separated from the fishing facilities, at €11.940.821,41. This economic calculation required retrieving and updating the original costs of the revised 1979 project designed by engineer Agustín Roso Pascual. After confirming that the works suffered budget cuts in 1984 and lacked an official economic quantification at that time, a recent technical study recalculated the initial 1984 investment at €1.668.153,22, subsequently applying the general CPI increases up to December 2011 and the cost variations in materials such as cement, energy, and steel until March 2025.
The technical breakdown of the new investments planned by the concessionaire details a total of €6.435.737,83 allocated to major works and €313.612,99 to minor projects. These funds will be strategically distributed among substantial improvements to the marina, notably €2.636.386,78 for maritime works, including the expansion of the dock for €1.942.121,89 and the construction of breakwaters for €300.983,45. In addition, €1.517.600,68 is earmarked for the development of the surrounding area, €754.855,10 for new buildings such as kiosks and an information center, as well as specific allocations for renewable energy, advanced marine sustainability systems, a vacuum sewer system, and strict safety and waste management controls.
