Saúl Castro and Raquel García-Cabrera are crowned champions in the debut of the Servatur Rainbow Family in Maspalomas

 

From early afternoon, the European Park in Playa del Inglés was transformed into a vibrant festival filled with the colors of Holi powder, featuring a massive warm-up and several hours of activities and workshops for children. With 500 participants of all ages and a strong commitment to solidarity, this race exceeded all expectations, raising €2.500 for projects of the Pequeño Valiente Foundation, which provides daily support to children with cancer and their families. This amount was matched by Servatur, the heart and soul of the race, who not only sponsored the event but also played a key role in this sporting celebration marking its 50th anniversary.

 

 

Servatur Rainbow Family, sponsored by the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Tourism Department, kicked off with a burst of color and the energy of runners of all ages, who brought the 1,6-kilometer 'Rainbow Family Mile' to life. This festive event filled the streets of Playa del Inglés, with hundreds of people joining in to celebrate the hotel chain's 50th anniversary. With the island's fastest runners ready to give their all, the competitive 5-kilometer race was a frenetic, adrenaline-fueled affair, in which Saúl Castro and Raquel García-Cabrera made history.

 

Saúl Castro crossed the finish line first with a cumulative time of 15 minutes and 10 seconds (15'10"), closely followed by his toughest rival, Jorge Álvarez, who finished with a fast total time of 15 minutes and 41 seconds (15'41"). Matías Dumpiérrez completed the podium in third place, stopping the clock at 16 minutes and 8 seconds (16'08"). 

 

 

In the women's race, the favorites lived up to expectations, with Raquel García-Cabrera proving unbeatable once again with a total time of 18 minutes and 20 seconds (18'20”), followed by Antonella Karla Monti, who crossed the finish line in 20 minutes and 7 seconds (20'07”). Mayra Gisel Pino Gallardo secured her bronze medal just seconds later, in 20 minutes and 35 seconds (20'35”), claiming her first podium finish amidst the enthusiastic applause of an international crowd.

In addition to special raffles courtesy of the sponsoring companies, this event has enjoyed a tremendous public response, with crowds lining the surrounding streets to cheer on and support the athletes every step of the way. Amidst the iconic colored powder, the Servatur Rainbow Family event reached its 500-place capacity with participants from the Canary Islands, various parts of mainland Spain, and athletes from Germany, the Netherlands, Belarus, Poland, Italy, Russia, Slovenia, Colombia, and Denmark, among other countries.

 

Rainbow Family, a plan that has been accumulating successes in its different events in Gran Canaria and the rest of the islands for years, has combined in one day sport, family, colors, fun, solidarity and live music, putting the finishing touch on the night with a full house in the European Park to the rhythm of Los Salvapantallas.

 

 

This event, which landed in San Bartolomé de Tirajana to celebrate Servatur's 50th birthday, was attended by José Jerez, president of Pequeño Valiente, and a large group of users, families, and workers, as well as the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez, the councilor for Tourism and Events as sponsor, Yilenia Vega, in addition to other authorities and a significant part of the Servatur chain, which brought together its professional family, citizens, and visitors to create a memorable celebration.

 

With upcoming events in Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and for the first time in Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Rainbow Family continues to grow in the Canary Islands with the festive and supportive spirit that characterizes it.
