The Maspalomas Golf course hosted the 22nd edition of the Gloria Thalasso & Hotels Tournament this past Saturday , August 8th , which also paid tribute to the 15th Estanislao Mañaricua Memorial . The day, which brought together 124 golfers for a shotgun start at 8:30 in the morning , was marked by extreme heat which, while making playing conditions more challenging, did not prevent the participants from enjoying an excellent atmosphere on a course presented in superb condition.
On the competitive front, David Vega emerged as the star, winning the scratch category with 39 points . In the other men's categories, Jeppe Friedstad led the first category with 38 points , Jose Ignacio García took the second with 37 points after a close handicap tiebreaker, and Iñaki Arguello won the third with an impressive 41 points . Meanwhile, in the women's competition , Matilde Pérez triumphed in the first category with 38 points , and Ángeles Silva in the second with 36. Antonio Prieto was the top-ranked player in the senior category.
The awards ceremony was accompanied by the distribution of special prizes, where Álvaro Rodríguez and Matilde Pérez stood out with the longest drives in their respective categories , while Tomy Arteaga and Antonio González took home the awards for closest to the pin . In addition to high-end technical equipment, the winners received direct entry to the Grand Final of the 28th Maspalomas Golf Circuit and various service vouchers for Gloria Thalasso & Hotels. The event concluded with a prize draw and a series of live musical performances that provided a fitting end to the day.
Looking ahead, Maspalomas Golf has confirmed the 20th edition of the Rotary Maspalomas tournament for Saturday, August 15th. This event, which will maintain the individual Stableford format, will be a charity event and will serve as a qualifying round for the circuit's Grand Final, thus keeping the competitive spirit alive in the south of the island throughout August.
