The administrative machinery of San Bartolomé de Tirajana is already in motion to transform Parque del Sur into the epicenter of social and tourist activity in the region this coming winter. Through a voluminous document of more than 150 pages, the City Council has launched a tender for the management of “Navidades del Mundo” (Christmas Around the World), a large-scale event designed with a grand vision that promises to solidify Maspalomas as an unmissable destination on the Christmas calendar. The tender, which follows an open procedure, leaves nothing to chance and seeks to balance children's entertainment with strict guarantees of safety, accessibility, and technical efficiency. The contract is worth almost half a million euros.
The project timeline is meticulously defined to maximize impact during peak periods. The contract will run from December 14, 2026, to January 7, 2027, covering both the initial setup and subsequent dismantling phases. However, the core of the experience—the performances, workshops, and shows—will be concentrated in an intensive window from December 19, 2026, to January 3, 2027. To ensure operational downtime and technical maintenance, the contract stipulates three days with no activities: December 24 and 31, 2026, and January 1, 2027.
To ensure the success of this event, the City Council has opted for a strategic division into three lots. Lot 1 is the creative and regulatory engine of the event, as it combines the artistic design and cultural programming with the drafting of the Security and Self-Protection Plan. This combination is not accidental, but rather a technical requirement: according to regional regulations, any event in open spaces that generates risks requires an integrated security plan that is inseparable from the event itself, thus avoiding the artificial fragmentation of the bidding process. This section includes the management of iconic spaces such as the “Christmas House,” the “Legolandia” tent, and the “Star Corner.”
The second section, Lot 2, specializes in highly complex technical infrastructure, encompassing the installation of professional sound equipment, stage lighting, LED screens, and the entire temporary electrical supply network necessary to power the tents and stages of the Auditorium. Finally, Lot 3 is reserved exclusively for security services, requiring certified private security coverage that guarantees the integrity of the venue 24 hours a day throughout the entire contract period, from mid-December to the first days of January.
The project's ambition extends beyond aesthetics; the ultimate goal is to foster a sense of belonging and identity that will revitalize the municipality's commercial sector. The successful bidder, regardless of the lot, will be required to operate in close coordination with all other stakeholders, under the constant supervision of the Department of Culture. Ultimately, this is a public works project designed to demonstrate that Maspalomas is not just about sunshine, but also has the operational capacity to manage a cosmopolitan, safe, and inclusive Christmas celebration for all families who choose this enclave as their festive haven.
