The Canary Coalition will bring a motion to the Plenary Session for all municipal groups to support a common roadmap that guarantees the continuity of the main socio-health projects of the municipality, regardless of who governs.

The Coalición Canaria municipal group will propose an agreement at the next plenary session of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council for all political forces to support a common strategy that will allow the development and continuity of the main actions aimed at the elderly and dependent people during the coming years.

The motion, presented by spokesperson Alejandro Marichal , proposes consolidating projects already initiated by the Department of Social Services and Senior Citizens . Among the priorities are specialized centers for people with Alzheimer's in Aldea Blanca and San Fernando , the advancement of the future senior citizens' residence and its day center , and a request for their inclusion in the Third Canary Islands Social and Healthcare Infrastructure Plan to facilitate their funding.

During this term, the drafting of the residence project has already been promoted, meetings have been held with the Gran Canaria Island Council to encourage its inclusion in the socio-health planning, and 18 million euros have been reserved to guarantee its construction if regional or island funding does not arrive.

Gran Canaria has an estimated deficit of 1.400 social and healthcare places and the elderly residence is a historical demand in San Bartolomé de Tirajana , supported by 7.101 neighborhood signatures and by the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's Patients AFA ALMA'S.

For Alejandro Marichal, caring for the elderly must become a shared commitment across the entire Corporation. " If all levels of government work together, we will be closer to providing our seniors with the care they deserve ," he says.
